Senior PDMS Piping Engineer
· The Senior PDMS Piping Designer is mainly responsible in the detail routing of piping elements with in-depth knowledge in the design criteria for the equipments, material handling, safety, constructability and operability aspect of the project. Familiar with international codes and standards and recommended practice. The Senior PDMS Piping Designer will normally coordinate design activities from PDMS Lead Designer and delegate technical and administrative task with intermediate piping designers/drafters and good intra-discipline coordination.
The Senior PDMS Piping Designer should be well versed with the latest version of PDMS and hands on experience in the Piping, 2Draft and Isometric Modules.
2. Key Responsibilities Include:
The following are general responsibilities for the Senior PDMS Piping Designer:
a) Attitude And Philosophy
Senior PDMS Piping Designer is the link between the PDMS Design Leader and the intermediate designers and drafters. Senior PDMS Piping Designer must stay in tune with Management philosophy and goals so this is communicated in a positive manner to assigned personnel.
b) Communication
Senior PDMS Piping Designer should be the focal point for communication from and to the intermediate designer and drafting personnel as well as with other discipline department. In general, Senior PDMS Piping Designer should be present during discipline and inter-discipline discussions such as model review meetings.
c) Schedule And Budgets
Ensure that contract requirements are completed within the limits established by both schedule and budget.
d) Supervision
Provide day-to-day supervision of assigned personnel and ensure that all work performed meets applicable codes, standards, specifications, and established company and industry practices.
e) Backup Assignment
It is vital for PTSC to develop people for advancement to Senior PDMS Piping Designer positions. It is also vital that Senior PDMS Piping Designer have a person to stand in for them when they are absent. Therefore, Senior PDMS Piping Designer are responsible for having a backup person who is informed about the day-to-day activities on the project so that they can learn about supervisory duties and responsibilities, and so that they can continue with the Senior PDMS Piping Designer’s work during an absence. The selection of a backup person will be made jointly with the Design staff.
f) Working Rules
Ensure that all assigned personnel are familiar with and follow the company working rules. Special attention should be given to ensuring punctuality of working hours and lunch periods, with necessary corrective action taken as required.
g) Performance Reviews And Counseling
Provide fair, constructive, and timely reviews and counseling for all assigned personnel. Formal performance reviews are done at least once each year. This process is initiated by the Design staff. The formal review is not a substitute for timely counseling as required on a day-to-day basis. Engineers and designers deserve feedback on their performance, both good and bad. The phrase, "No news is good news," should not characterize the Senior PDMS Piping Designer/ subordinate relationship.
h) Standards
Maintain an awareness of departmental needs in the development or improvement of standards and procedures.
i) Safety
Ensure that all designs produced, and working conditions for all personnel, comply with adequate safety rules.
j) Innovation
Employees should strive to find better and more effective ways of accomplishing their work. Senior PDMS Piping Designer should encourage innovation but must make certain that the quality of work is not compromised. However, Senior PDMS Piping Designer must not deviate from approved standards and procedures without authorization from their discipline Management.
Senior PDMS Piping Designer must be cautious of innovative ideas that violate basic practices. Sometimes, innovative but unsound approaches are offered as a solution to an inadequate budget.
k) Intermediate Designer Interface
While Senior PDMS Piping Designer is responsible in the detail designing, he must delegate part of the effort to the intermediate designer.
3. Key Requirements:
· Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or equivalent
· At least 7-10 years experiences working on with offshore and/or onshore projects from the permitting and design phases through end of project (conceptual and/or basic and/or detailed design).
· Excellent interpersonal skills; a person who listens well, respects diversity of opinions and has an open, clear and succinct communication style (in English)
· Effective organizational and time management skills in handling multiple projects, performing a variety of tasks, and meeting required deadlines
· Ability to represent the company to the staff, clients and community by ensuring the best image is presented
· Application knowledge of client’s systems and programs
· Ability to accurately apply codes and regulations
· Ability to coordinate with all disciplines, extract and relay relevant information for complex projects
· Ability to write reports not requiring significant editing
· Ability to identify risks
· Project Closing Report, experienced lessons after each previous completion project.
4. Responsibilities:
· 3D Modeling of pipe routing elements as per the projects Basis of Design.
· 3D Modeling of pipe supports as per the project pipe support standard
· 3D Modeling of Equipment Elements
· 3D Modeling of Safety Elements and Obstruction Volumes
· Perform Data Consistency Check (Datacon) and Clash Check
· Prepare PDMS Review Model
· Material and Drawing Checking
· Extracts and produce the following:

Piping Materials
Piping General Arrangement
Piping Isometrics
Line List
Valve List
Specialty Item List
